Game Camera Pics
It’s been a busy week so I just have a few photos from our game camera to share. The camera is actually down right now. The batteries last about 6 months and I’ve got to replace them.
First up is a pair of ghostly, head-butting calves. We usually get quite a few cow photos from the game camera, but I tend to ignore them as pedestrian. This one caught my eye.
The game camera caught them in infrared mode. It has an infrared flash and these nighttime shots always look eerie. It’s mid-April and early evening. I like their glowing eyes. The calves look like they might be twins and they’re definitely butting heads.
This Rio Grande Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is from late April, about mid-day. It’s too bad he’s walking away from the game camera, but that’s the way it is. Very zen. The camera is triggered by the animal’s motion and there is some delay. You get what you get.
You do get a good look at his tail feathers. They are striped tan and brown and even have a bit of green in them.
Here’s another another wild turkey, later in April and early in the morning. He looks like he’s sneaking back home after a late night out. Do turkeys get hangovers?
The game camera has been one of the best purchases I’ve made in a while. Retrieving the flash card every week and digging through the photos is usually rewarding. It tends to capture a lot of empty frames, probably being triggered by the moving grass or trees. The animals are the gold nuggets among all the gravel.
