Yes, I admit it! It was too cold and wet this weekend for me to go on my hike. I dug through my archives though and found something to share.
First is a nice view of one of the ponds at the Bamberger Ranch. Bamberger Ranch is a beautiful place in Blanco County, just outside of Johnson City, dedicated to restoring, preserving, and educating about our natural resources. Its 5500 acres have been carefully restored and I love to visit. It’s open to the public so please check it out.
This photo was taken in the fall, five years ago. We were there for one of the many classes they offer. The pond is surrounded by beautiful, tall cypress trees.
Here’s a nice shot of the bright red berries on an agarita (Mahonia trifoliolata). The berries are edible and provide food for wildlife. This photo was taken in the spring of 2010.
I should mention that calling my photo file system an archive is really overstating it. I wish it was organized better. I have all the digital photos I’ve taken with my DSLRs, but finding particular ones is quite difficult. A word to the wise: keep your photos organized from the beginning. Organizing them when you have several thousand is quite daunting.
I wish I knew the best way to organize my photo archive. By subject, by date, something else? If you have any suggestions, please let me know!
