A Life Of Comfort
Comfort – what a great name!
We got to spend last weekend in Comfort, Texas. We were at a family reunion and stayed at a bed and breakfast on Cypress Creek. I learned there is more than one Cypress Creek in Texas because there’s one in Wimberley too.
The Comfort Cypress Creek is a tributary of the Guadalupe River. Everything was green because of the recent rains. It rained a little while we were there, but the rain served to wash out the creek and really made it quite pretty. In addition to the namesake Cypress Trees (Taxodium distichum), the grounds also had very large pecan trees.
Here’s a view from the bank and looking up stream after the rains. The creek isn’t very deep, maybe a foot or so.
I always find cypress roots interesting. Look at how the tree grips the bank! Cypress trees are typically right on the edge, thirsty for the water, but not wanting to fall in.
Have you ever thought about how cypress trees like to grown along creeks and rivers? How do they know to find the right spot? The truth is they don’t! The cypress seeds are spread into all kinds of locations, but they tend to only do well along the water’s edge.
Loving your blog Art! Excellent pics.
